Why did you choose Leeds SCITT?
The opportunity to spend so much time in school during the Lead School Experience was one of the main aspects that drew me to the SCITT. I had spent a year as a teaching assistant prior to my teacher training so I was keen to get into a Music department and learn from talented teachers!

When I first started, I was worried about gaps in subject knowledge- such as my knowledge of Music Technology and recording. However, the tutorials during the Lead school Experience really helped with this, and they arranged for us to attend external CPD on areas such as Musical Futures.

The support throughout my training with Leeds SCITT was fantastic, from the Lead School, Mentors, and the Leeds SCITT Co-ordinators, everyone was incredibly supportive, and the group of trainees developed a strong bond. I am still in contact with a number of colleagues from my training year all these years later and that is in part due to the atmosphere around the Leeds SCITT course.

Teaching Career Now:
I am currently acting Subject Leader at Cockburn School; the Lead School Subject Tutor for Music and Performing Arts and I have been at this school since graduating from Leeds SCITT in 2016. Leeds SCITT has a fantastic employment record and all of my fellow graduates in 2016 ended up with jobs, most around Leeds!

Having completed the Leeds SCITT course myself, it has prepared me for supporting the trainees and it has been a pleasure to see them develop throughout the year.

Leeds SCITT gave me the opportunity to train under some fantastic Subject leaders in my placement schools and my Lead School, Cockburn High School, which has given me the tools to lead the department this year.
