Max Robinson Computer Science with IT
Studied in 2005, now the subject leader for IT in Titus Salt School and Lead Tutor for SCITT IT.
'I really didn't want to sit in a lecture theatre any more and Leeds SCITT offered local training that had a good quality network of schools with really experienced mentors. I also liked the idea that they where training people to meet the demands of the schools in the local area meaning a better chance of a job at the end of the course.' - Max Robinson, IT, 2005
The highlight of the course for me was the fact it was in school training. There was a varied style of schools involved and I was learning from people who actually do the job day in, day out.
I felt ready to work in schools and felt confident to work as part of a department/team. The course also built up my confidence in managing classes and developed me into a teacher with the potential to be outstanding. One really useful part of the course was guidance on applying for jobs and interview techniques. This support led to me gaining employment on my first interview.
I am hoping to continue to be a subject leader for another year and then move on to become an assistant head with responsibility for ITE/ITT.
