The Physical Education department at Corpus Christi Catholic College is a dynamic department with positive outcomes and an extremely vibrant extra curriculum offer for pupils. Furthermore, research-led teaching and learning is the foundation of the departments’ overall philosophy. The facilities are second to none and include: a large sports hall (four badminton courts), fitness suite, table tennis suite (12 tables always in situ), large field (one rugby pitch, two football pitches, 10 x 10 grids teaching space & 200m athletics track), outdoor multi-use games area, indoor cricket nets and a PE classroom which contains 25 computers.
Extracurricular opportunities along with teaching and learning, is one of the two facets, which make up the foundation of our departments’ philosophy. Finely balanced between participation for all and ensuring that gifted and talented pupils face challenging competitive opportunities.
Training and competitive fixtures are available to all in the following sports: athletics, Yorkshire & Leeds Champions, Rugby League, Yorkshire & National Champions, association football, Yorkshire and Leeds Champions, badminton, netball, cricket, rounders, Cross Country, Gaelic Football and Handball.
All the PE staff at Corpus Christi Catholic College have a range of different skills to offer to the training of our trainee teachers. These include: planning, assessment for learning, tracking of data, behaviour management, vocational courses, examination PE, targeted intervention, curriculum design, and a plethora of extracurricular activities and virtual learning environments to help you develop your teaching knowledge and resilience.
In addition to your Lead School placement, you can be placed within up to two of our additional partnership schools within the local area to give you contrasting placements.
