This spring Leeds SCITT has a lot of good news to shout about!

Usually here at Leeds SCITT our main focus is getting you in the classroom, but we wanted to take a moment to celebrate us coming out at the top of the class ourselves, as one of the best teacher training institutions in Yorkshire!

We are thrilled to confirm that we are the only provider in West Yorkshire that has been given a three-year allocation by the Department of Education and National College for Teaching and Leadership, meaning we’re one of the most trusted institutions to provide teacher training in the county!

This is in addition to being in sixth place nationally for teaching quality and the top provider in Yorkshire for student satisfaction and employability.

Since the time the programme was created in 2004, we have displayed outstanding employment, retention and promotion statistics for our trainees, with an amazing 90 – 97 percent of our graduates finding work in teaching.

• Classroom based learning– you get to gain vital hands-on experience teaching in specially selected schools to help you learn how to teach in the most effective way possible.
• Teachers training teachers– you will be trained by teachers who are themselves experienced in classroom teaching. Having been through exactly the same process starting out as you have, they can help you every step of the way.
• Low teacher to student ratio– small group sizes means you get support tailored to your specific individual needs. Friendly and helpful teachers are there to support you on your journey to gaining your PGCE and doing the thing you love – teaching!
• Teach in a leading school for your subject– you will start off life as a Leeds SCITT trainee in a school that specialises in the subject you will teach. This allows you to learn what makes their approach in that subject area so effective, right from the get-go.
• Our affiliation with Leeds Trinity University – Based at this well-regarded university, many of our tutors are involved with regional and/or national level educational research and development. You will also benefit from Leeds Trinity’s campus facilities including the Library and IT services.
